Skyfall: Teaser Analysis

Media Evaluation:  Skyfall

During the teaser the main plot points were uncovered, this is clever technique because it engages us, has the viewer, to watch. It makes us interested in the film because of its secrecy and intrigues us to the mystery. The teaser uses the main typical conventions of the action designed film, it shows guns being used, fights, violence, car chases and the main one explosions, it makes the genre stand out and makes the film familiar to fans of the action genre, using the typical conventions it creates an energetic atmosphere. It basically teases us, as the plot and main theme of the film is kept private and out of the public eye, it basically creates the buzz and people start to talk about it, becoming more interested and wanting more teasers to be created to sell the plot even more.

The narrative and dialogue of the teaser symbolizes the secrecy of the plot, it only reveals one point which is relevant to the title of the film itself, it shows that this word as some importance to the plot-line of the film, the dialogue also marks the continuation of a franchise of films and the character, so people who are interested in this franchise will immediately know who it is and what the film centers on, it interests old fans of the movies and can also intrigues young male adults, as most love action, car chases and explosions.

The structure of the teaser is made from the fade in-out editing technique, it marks out the scenes and shows their vital importance to the teaser, it might not give much information away, but it shows the progress and what viewers have to wait to see and find out what is happening. The pace is also structured, it syncs in with the music of the teaser (The music represents guns, goes with the genre), it also adds emphasis to the clips used, the pace of the clips change when the music changes, it creates an energy in which the viewer feeds off and makes us a lot more interested.

The credits used makes reference to the company of films and franchise itself, it shows the films logo (familiar, most people have seen it so it gives information to which fictional character the film is about), it also makes people aware that the franchise is back once again.

The main selling point of the teaser is to show the continuation of the James Bond franchise, which attracts the fans of the films and it could possibly attract younger audiences (mostly males, like stated above) and it also makes people want to go see it because of the actors in the film, etc: Daniel Craig and Judi Dench.
